Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing expertise and support for projects related to vegetation mapping and spatial data analysis in arctic ecosystems. Development of circumpolar databases and integrated mapping procedures as part of the Circumpolar Arctic Vegetation Mapping Project, development of a MSS derived landcover map of the Seward Peninsula. Development and application of hierarchical GIS databases to problems related to the fluxes of energy, water, nutrients, trace gases in arctic ecosystems; application of the hierarchic GIS to wildlife and/or human use of arctic systems.
